Alyssa Lynne

PhD Candidate in Sociology | GSS Cluster Fellow

Alyssa Lynne is a PhD candidate in Sociology, a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Fellow, and a Mellon Fellow in Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her research is broadly situated at the intersection of medical sociology, gender and sexuality studies, and postcolonial theory. More specifically, she examines the social processes surrounding the formation and implementation of standards that structure gender-affirming care for transgender and gender nonconforming people in Thailand and the U.S. Her work has been supported by the Buffett Institute, SPAN, and the U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS). She received her MA in Sociology from Northwestern and BA in Sociology/Anthropology from St. Olaf College.
