PhD Student in History | GSS Cluster Fellow
Hannah Richardson Simmons (she/her/hers) is a graduate student in the history department. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN where she developed a love for history. She was surrounded by black women whose stories illuminated the sorrows and joys of black life. Hannah’s research interests are Early U.S. history, Slavery, and African American womanhood. With her PhD, Hannah hopes to disseminate, in formal and/or informal settings, the knowledge that she has gathered throughout her educational career. Hannah believes that engaging in research and pedagogy centering the lives of historically underrepresented people is crucial in honoring and remembering their spirits.
