Graduate Coordinator

Nature of the Position:

  • Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters
  • Participates in the organization of graduate-focused events (including the GSS doctoral colloquium), based on graduate student interests and in coordination with schedule of events for the program. Events typically include workshopping graduate student materials/projects, but can also include book discussions, visits from journal editors, social events, workshop with fellowship office, workshop with career center etc. [See this example from Science in Human Culture Program]
  • Grad coordinator solicits interest, plans calendar, conducts outreach, sends reminder emails, and facilitates meetings
  • Grad coordinator may also submit a quarterly or yearly mini report to the DGS on the activities and meet regularly with DGS to coordinate schedule across the program
  • The person could also maintain a helpful resource database on Canvas for resources such as:
    • Course list in sister departments that people might be interested in Colloquium
    • Program information
    • Travel information
    • Grants and Fellowship Information
    • Reading lists
    • Job material examples

Stipend: $750

Eligibility: 

  • Graduate students within their first 5 years of study
  • Priority will be given to GSS certificate/cluster students who have participated in the GSS colloquium
