Dani Kissinger

PhD Candidate in Screen Cultures | GSS TA 2021-22

Dani Kissinger is a PhD Candidate in Screen Cultures in the department of Radio/TV/Film. Their research is on emerging media histories, affect, and embodiment. Their dissertation, "Phenomenal Visions" studies how representations of the paranormal by new media forms at the turns of the 20th and 21st centuries reflect and structure ideas of fact, reality, and experience. Previous work has been done on the YouTube series Queer Ghost Hunters, as well as the convergence of drag performance and horror genres. 

In Spring 2022, they will be teaching their own GNDR_ST 390 course "Queer Ghosts."
