Ryan Nhu

PhD Candidate in English | GSS TA 2024-25

Ryan Nhu (he/they) is a writer and PhD candidate in the Department of English at Northwestern University. His dissertation brings together political and psychoanalytic genealogies of integration to study the comparative racialization of Black and Asian Americans in the United States, 1954-present. He is specifically interested in how mania--as a literary aesthetic and a structure of feeling permeating contemporary Black and Asian American literature--reveals the failures and fantasies of racial integration in the United States. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The Margins, Tyger Quarterly, Feminist Media Histories, and elsewhere.
